Job summary

Zoom Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a renewable energy specialist focused on premium residential and commercial heat pump projects in the South East. The role offers valuable field-based experience, ongoing training and clear career progression within a growing sector.

You will install air source heat pumps, MVHR and related systems, read engineering drawings, and ensure high-quality workmanship on diverse projects while maintaining safety standards and strong on-site

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating is essential.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating is desirable.
  • 1-3 years' practical experience in plumbing or mechanical installation.
  • Solid understanding of domestic plumbing and heating systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Installing advanced heating, plumbing and mechanical systems to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Assisting with the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), heating systems, cooling systems and MVHR.
  • Installing high-quality plumbing pipework to exceptional standards.
  • Working on premium residential developments and selected commercial projects across the South East.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
  • Working closely with Project Managers and Mechanical Supervisors to deliver projects on time.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with clients, contractors and other trades on site.
  • Following all health & safety procedures, risk assessments and company standards.

Location: South East (Field-Based)

Salary: £32,000 - £45,000 per annum + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Engineer / Heat Pump Installer to join a well-established and rapidly expanding renewable energy specialist delivering premium residential and commercial projects across the South East.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll play a key role in the installation of modern renewable heating and mechanical systems across a variety of high-specification projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing advanced heating, plumbing and mechanical systems to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Assisting with the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs), heating systems, cooling systems and Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
  • Installing high-quality plumbing pipework to exceptional standards
  • Working on premium residential developments and selected commercial projects across the South East

Requirements

We're looking for someone who is motivated, eager to learn and takes genuine pride in the quality of their work.

To be successful, you'll ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating (Essential)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating (Desirable)
  • 1-3 years' practical experience in plumbing or mechanical installation
  • A solid understanding of domestic plumbing and heating systems
  • The ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings
  • A full UK Driving Licence
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience installing Air Source Heat Pumps
  • Experience with MVHR or renewable heating technologies
  • Knowledge of low-temperature heating systems and hydraulic principles
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and manufacturer training
