We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and ambition fuelled Fundraiser to join us to cover the Dorset region.

The candidate should ideally have good access and knowledge of the county by residingin the area or within easy travelling distance.

Who are Heartbeat?

Heartbeat are a regional charity established in 1992 that helps babies, children and adults diagnosed with congenital and cardiovascular diseases primarily by supporting the work of the Wessex Cardiac Unit based at the University Hospital Southampton. This is achieved by providing specialised equipment, services and facilities to help patients and their relatives through their cardiac journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, building and maintaining supporter relationships with individuals, community groups, organisations and businesses across thecounty
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to fundraise, and raise awareness of Heartbeat in Dorset
  • Manage supporters effectively using our database to understand supporter motivations to provide excellent stewardship
  • Meeting agreed financial targets, providing us with monthly financial progress reports in addition to putting mitigation plans in place for any shortfall.
  • Champion and Promote Heartbeat activities and campaigns to raise awareness and drive income

Qualities and Experience Required:

  • Knowledge and experience of working across community, corporate, event and individual income streams, with a proven history of achieving financial targets
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire supporters and build long-term relationships
  • Excellent oral communication skills with a high degree of diplomacy, empathy and confidence
  • Ability to be a team player who can work on their own initiative to plan and manage their workload
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills with firm understanding of KPIs, targets, budgeting.
  • Full clean driving licence and the ability to work weekends and evenings as required

  • Part time, remote working pattern to be agreed of 22.5 hours – which would be flexible and remote with the need to occasionally work at the weekend and evenings, to fit in with fundraising activities.
  • A generous 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time hours)
