Job summary

Freedom Leisure in Ashford is seeking a Healthy Communities Leader to deliver inclusive health and wellbeing programmes across our centres and community settings. You will engage local residents and partners to boost physical activity and reduce isolation.

Working with the Healthy Communities Manager, you will run diverse sessions, monitor participation, and help evaluate outcomes. Casual hours with training and support provided.

Qualifications

• Six months+ experience in sport development, physical activity, community development or related role.
• Experience delivering community-focused programmes.
• Experience engaging with diverse participant groups.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Healthy Communities Leader to join our team. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with local communities, delivering inclusive health and wellbeing programmes and making a positive impact on people’s lives.

As a Healthy Communities Leader, you will support the delivery of a wide range of community health and wellbeing initiatives designed to improve physical activity levels, enhance mental wellbeing and reduce social isolation across the local community. Working closely with the Healthy Communities Manager and local partners, you will help deliver innovative programmes that encourage participation from people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and support community health and wellbeing programmes across leisure and community settings.
• Facilitate a variety of sessions including wellbeing activities, disability-inclusive programmes, perinatal mental health support and employability workshops.
• Engage with local residents and community groups to increase participation in health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with participants, healthcare professionals, local stakeholders and partner organisations.
• Support community outreach activities, particularly with underrepresented and hard-to-reach groups.
• Promote programmes and activities through effective engagement and local marketing initiatives.
• Monitor attendance, collect participant feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Support programme evaluation and reporting of outcomes and success stories.
• Assist with community events, awareness campaigns and health promotion activities.
• Act as a positive ambassador, promoting healthy lifestyles and wellbeing within the community.

Hours: Casual hours, as and when required.

• At least six months’ experience in a sport development, physical activity, community development or related role.
• Experience supporting or delivering community-focused programmes and initiatives.
• Experience engaging with diverse participant groups.
• Good IT and administrative skills.
• Knowledge of community, voluntary sector, local authority or sport and physical activity landscapes.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• National Governing Body - Level 1 qualification.
• Safeguarding and Child Protection training.
• First Aid qualification.
• Experience monitoring programmes and reporting outcomes.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
