Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Catering Lead to provide all catering services within a day service, with particular emphasis on healthy eating and dietary requirements of people with specific health or cultural needs.

You will plan menus, monitor budgets, ensure hygienic, safe kitchen operations and accurate stock control, and supervise staff to deliver nutritious meals to service users.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1/2 or NVQ Level 1/2 in food preparation or equivalent.
• Knowledge of responsibilities under the food safety act and related legislation.
• Knowledge of menu planning and food purchasing.
• Knowledge of issues in relation to health eating and catering for special diets.
• Knowledge of safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus and arrange food purchasing.
• Monitor expenditure and ensure cost effectiveness within the budget.
• Ensure food is presented attractively and portions are correct.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Ensure kitchen, dining and storage areas are secure with stock controls.
• Check deliveries for quality and quantity and address issues as needed.
• Report equipment defects and arrange repairs or replacements.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety at Work Act.
