Job summary

Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions (CHS) is seeking a Trust Waste Management Officer to develop, implement and manage systems for healthcare waste, recycling and broader environmental initiatives. The role ensures best value for money while maintaining high environmental standards.

The post requires leading Trust-wide programmes, ensuring HTM 07-01 compliance, and developing training, policies and procedures across estates, clinical engineering, procurement and facilities management.

Qualifications

• Understanding HTM 07-01; Safe Management of Healthcare Waste.
• Significant experience in waste management in a healthcare setting.
• Experience delivering policies and standing operating procedures.
• Ability to deliver group training.
• Management and delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

• Safe and effective healthcare waste management for all sites within the Trust and advising the General Manager (Estates).
• Identify opportunities for cost-effective investment in waste minimisation and recycling; produce reports.
• Attend waste management contract meetings with procurement; provide data and feedback to managers.
• Lead Trust Waste Management Committee, reporting to Infection and Prevention Committee.
• Lead for organisational training needs for waste management and awareness.
