  • Risk Management and Escalation: Identify and investigate waste management risks and compliance issues, report concerns to the appropriate responsible persons and escape significant issues to the Head of Non-Clinical Risk Management and Director of Facilities.
  • Dangerous Goods Compliance: Ensure waste is appropriately identified and classified in accordance with applicable dangerous goods requirements, and support the Trusts Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) with audits and corrective action plans.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Identify and implement opportunities to reduce waste generation, improve segregation and recycling, minimise environmental impact and make use of compliant alternative waste treatment technologies.
  • Sustainability Performance Monitoring: Work with external contractors to maximise their sustainability commitments, monitor environmental performance and report on progress and outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in waste management services, investigate operational challenges, recommend practical improvements and share best practice across Trust departments and sites.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Coordination: Act as the central contact for waste management enquiries, liaise with clinical and non-clinical departments, arrange audit visits, provide constructive feedback and coordinate corrective actions.
