Join Our Team as a Healthcare Support Worker on Simpson Ward

Are you interested in improving the care of patients with dementia? Are you seeking a new challenge and the opportunity to help establish a new role in the clinical area?

As a full-time Healthcare Support Worker on Simpson Ward, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure the delivery of excellent clinical care within the HOP/stroke unit environments. You will take a lead role in the assessment and care of patients demonstrating challenging behaviours.

Working 37.5 hours per week, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the completion of ‘This is Me’ documents and appropriate risk assessments to gather vital collateral information about this group of patients.
  • Collaborating with Safeguarding and MH Leads within the ISU to form part of an educational team, delivering staff training to improve knowledge and skills across the HOP/Stroke clinical areas.

The Healthcare Support Worker will:

  • Work within the nursing team to provide high-quality nursing care, especially for patients displaying challenging behaviours, under the leadership of the Registered Nurse.
  • Deliver health and social care focusing on the holistic needs of service users.
  • Carry out specific clinical tasks delegated by registered practitioners.
  • Support and work alongside all members of the MDT, both within and outside the directorate.
  • Supervise and teach junior staff.
  • Participate in setting key objectives and responsibilities, reviewed during annual appraisals.
  • Engage in ongoing development to increase your clinical competencies.
