Job Description:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is 5 over 7 days.

The Glasgow City Wide Phlebotomy Service delivers care in clinics and home settings to patients who are referred by GPs, members of the Primary Health Care Team and those from secondary care. Providing health education and health promotion in order to promote and maintain independent living for patients and support carers.

The Phlebotomy Service delivers care to patients within their own home and clinical environments. The post holder will participate in the care of patients under the direction of a registered nurse. Taking into account the lifestyle, race, gender and cultural background, and factors which impact on physical, mental or emotional health. The post holder will represent the values and beliefs of the nursing team as well as that of the organisation.

The post holder will have the ability to work with people on their own and as part of a team and the ability to work without direct supervision. They must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Minimum requirements include SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience.
