Job Description

We are recruiting a Healthcare Support Worker on a fixed-term contract from August 2024 to August 2026. You will assist patients and support nursing colleagues in the Eye Unit, working a varied shift pattern over 22.5 hours per week.

You will work with an experienced team, undertaking routine procedures under supervision. This is a two-year fixed-term contract.

About the role
  • Perform delegated clinical tasks in the Eye Unit, including pre-assessment, admission, and discharge.
  • Assist in the ophthalmic procedure room, set up equipment, and help transfer and position patients.
  • Update patient information accurately on IT systems.
  • Maintain patient care areas and stock levels.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in ophthalmic outpatient procedures and use ophthalmic equipment proficiently.
  • Support safe patient admission and discharge with nurses.
Skills and Experience
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Relevant qualification such as NVQ Level III in Health & Social Care, or willingness to undertake.
  • Basic Life Support training.
  • Ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Methodical approach and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication with tact and diplomacy.
  • Patient-centered attitude.
  • Strong team-working skills.
