Job Overview

As a full-time Healthcare Support Worker on our 24-bedded Dunlop Ward, which specialises in the care of long-term cardiac conditions and Acute Medicine, you will provide high standards of care to our patients while working both independently and as part of a team. You will prioritise your workload to ensure quality care and demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach.

The ideal candidate will have some care experience and be able to work night shifts. We offer a period of supernumerary time to support you into your role, and further learning and development are encouraged.

Main duties of the job

  1. Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high standards of individualised nursing care.
  2. Maintain excellent communication skills and prioritise workload for the best patient outcomes.
  3. Support the care, protection, and well-being of individuals, respecting their privacy and dignity.
  4. Monitor and record vital signs, assist with investigations/scans, personal care, and nutritional support.
  5. Be flexible to work days, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

You will work as part of a team to assist with clinical responsibilities delegated by qualified nursing staff, including:

  1. Monitoring and recording patient conditions such as temperature, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturations, and weight.
  2. Providing personalised care, infection prevention, food, personal hygiene, reassurance, comfort, and safety.
  3. Handling administrative duties like answering phones, taking messages, and participating in ward meetings.
  4. Assisting with risk assessments.
  5. Communicating effectively with staff, patients, relatives, and carers.
  6. Recognising and responding appropriately to work situations and seeking advice when needed.
