Healthcare Support Worker / Driver

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced Urgent Care Health Care Assistant who has a valid UK driving licence.

Our Urgent Treatment Centre's treat a wide variety of illness and injury across all age ranges. The HCA will work in a supporting role, providing high quality patient centred care under the supervision of the Urgent Care Practitioners and General Practitioners.

The Urgent Care Service also provides home visits by our clinicians who require a Healthcare Assistant / Driver to transport them to patient homes across County Durham, and provide HCA support during visits.

In addition our HCA will provide a patient transport service to support patient access to Urgent Treatment Centre appointments as required and following risk assessment by a clinician.

Main duties of the job

The HCA will carry out routine HCA duties, e.g. recording observations, taking blood and urine samples, monitoring and escorting patients under the supervision of the managing clinician.

The role also involves performing ECG recordings, carrying out minor dressings and applying immobilisation techniques such as splint plaster-of-paris back slabs.

Other duties also include stock checks and restocking consulting rooms and home visiting car as well as performing car checks.

Training will be provided as required.
