Healthcare Support Worker Band 3

The Community Childrens Nurses provide care to Children with Long Term and Life Limiting Conditions from birth to 18 years of age. We are looking for an individual to work across our Long Term Conditions Team and Home Respite Team. The Home Respite Team is a county wide service consisting of healthcare support workers who provide short sessional support for children with on-going health needs within their own home and community settings. The Care Support Workers work closely with the trained staff to meet the needs of the children and their families and provide family Centered Holistic Care. When not delivering respite the post holders will be running small clinics for children requiring overnight saturations recordings, managing the essential equipment and supplies used by the nursing teams and families and supporting the trained nurses in meeting the needs of the children. The post holder will be lone working and must have access to a vehicle for work use.

We want to recruit forward thinking, dynamic members of staff into this permanent position. The post holder will be part of a small established service, working with colleagues who present with enthusiasm for innovative and high standards of practice. They will be able to work autonomously and under direct supervision.

Main duties of the job

As a healthcare support worker within the Respite Team the post holder will be working alongside the Community Childrens Nurses who will assess children and plan their care prior to the Support worker offering sessions, the role requires you work alongside children with varying conditions and health needs, to support families in caring for their child and supporting the wellbeing of the child and extended family.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience and knowledge of working with children with additional health needs and complex health needs.
  • Experience of working within a community setting
  • Recognized Qualification in Child Care
  • Demonstrable excellent customer service
  • Experience of engaging and communicating effectively with people at all levels
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures in accordance with local procedures
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work use
  • Experience within NHS service
