Job summary

We arecurrently recruiting 2 full time Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers to be partof our team at Pershore Community Hospital, which has an inpatient ward with 26beds. The candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) toachieve specific rehabilitation goals. This will be a challenging and excitingopportunity and will enable the individual to develop new and existing skills.

PershoreCommunity Hospital plays a critical role in the delivery of local NHS services,providing more care and treatment closer to peoples homes. Emphasis is toreduce length of stay whilst ensuring excellent care which is safe, effective,personalised and compassionate and to the standards you would expect for yourfamily and friends.

This post requires working rotationalshifts.

Main duties of the job

Assist withadmitting patients to the ward and the care of their relatives

Undertake clinicalprocedures following assessment of competencies by qualified senior members ofstaff

Carry outdelegated nursing care

Act as health

Provide safeand effective care

Identifiesareas for the improvement

Assistpatients with attending to the activities of daily living and support thetherapy team with the rehabilitation of the patient.

Assistpatients to sit up or out for breakfast.

Serveand prepare meals/breakfast and drinks, help to assist patients when required. Completeappropriate paperwork i.e food diaries and fluid balance charts.

Assistpatients with morning personal care and dressing.

Mobilisepatients using correct mobility equipment when required/liaise withphysiotherapy team.

Liaisewith nursing staff for information regarding Observations, catheters, labsamples, blood sugar monitoring, dressings and further health checks.

Carryout patient weekly assessments which involve weighing, clean and checkmattress, catheter bag change when required.

Storesto be restocked daily.

Assistpatients with toileting.

Assistto support patients to bed/ attach catheter night bags when required.

Person Specification
Knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of nursing adults and / or training
  • Basic IT Skills
Experience
  • Working with adults in a care setting
  • Nursing experience within the NHS / Hospital Setting
  • Experience of working in general medicine or rehabilitation
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to challenge poor behaviour
  • A positive attitude and able to act on feedback
  • Ability to praise and be supportive to others
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats

Qualifications
  • A good standard of general education to GCSE level and will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 2 qualification on appointment to post
  • Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
