Job description

DPH offers a varied and interesting place to work, with opportunities to work across our 11-bedded ward and busy outpatient clinic area.

You will care for a wide range of patients from various specialties.

The successful candidate will work 23 hours per week, collaborating closely with consultants, nursing, and administrative teams.

Your role will involve assisting in the efficient operation of a busy ward and clinic, supporting the nursing team in caring for pre- and post-operative patients, and occasionally caring for non-surgical patients. Training in venepuncture will be provided, along with opportunities to train in cannulation and ECG. We also operate a minor treatment room, where you may be trained to assist with procedures.

The Royal Derby Hospital features a purpose-built Private Patient Unit, including a ward, outpatient department, and minor procedures room. The unit operates seven days a week, primarily caring for surgical patients in the inpatient ward and a wide variety of clinical cases in outpatient services.

We seek a motivated and enthusiastic individual who will support the clinical team by:

  • Putting patients first and enhancing their experience.
  • Demonstrating good communication and organizational skills.
  • Providing high standards of personal care, maintaining patient safety, privacy, and dignity.
The ability to work as part of a team and adapt to a changing workload is essential, as flexibility is a key aspect of this role.

You will be required to work a combination of day and night shifts on a seven-day rota.

Applicants must have significant previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in ward or outpatient settings.

This is an annualized hours position. You will receive full pay guaranteed each month, regardless of hours worked, as hours will be flexibly scheduled throughout the year.
Applicants must bring their Care Qualification Certificate or NVQ Certification to the interview.
An literacy and numeracy assessment will be conducted during the interview.
