A leading healthcare provider in the UK is looking for a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker in their Clinical Investigation Unit. You will support vital diagnostic services within Cardio/Respiratory care. Responsibilities include conducting ECGs, collaborating with healthcare teams, and assisting with training new staff. This role requires strong teamwork and communication skills in a dynamic clinical environment. Candidates should possess relevant experience in clinical physiology. This position requires 37.5 hours of work each week across multiple hospital sites.
An opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) for a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker, working within Cardio/Respiratory services for the Community Diagnostic Centre.
The CIU operates across three UHMBT sites: Furness General Hospital (FGH), Westmorland General Hospital (WGH), and Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). The successful candidate will be required to work at these locations, with the position primarily based at RLI.
As a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker, you will support the clinical physiology team in areas such as Electrocardiograms (ECG), ambulatory ECG and BP hookup, prolonged ECG monitoring (Alivecor and Diagnosticks), spirometry, FeNO, and sleep studies.
You will work effectively as part of a team within CIU to ensure high-quality patient services. Responsibilities include performing 12-lead ECGs in various clinical settings, running diagnostic monitors including ambulatory, Alivecor, and Diagnosticks, as well as conducting BP, spirometry, FeNO, and sleep clinics. You will collaborate with colleagues, clinicians, patients, and their relatives.
You will assist in the professional and operational delivery of the service, including sharing workload and training other staff members.
The role involves working 37.5 hours over a 5-day pattern.
Our services are based at three main hospitals: FGH in Barrow, RLI, and WGH in Kendal, along with community healthcare premises such as Millom Hospital, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI provide comprehensive hospital services, including Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various specialist services. WGH offers general hospital services, an Urgent Treatment Centre, and outpatient diagnostics. Additionally, outpatient services, diagnostics, therapies, and surgeries are provided across community facilities in Morecambe Bay.
