Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen within Clinical Investigation Unit (CIU) for a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker working within Cardio/Respiratory services.

The CIU works across 3 UHMBT sites – Furness General Hospital (FGH), Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) and Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). The successful applicant will be required to work at the above locations, although it is anticipated that the post will be centred on the RLI site.

As a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker you will provide support to the clinical physiology team, working in areas such as electrocardiograms (ECG), ambulatory ECG and BP hook‑up, prolonged ECG monitoring (Alivecor and Diagnosticks), spirometry and FeNO and sleep studies.

Main duties

• Perform 12‑lead ECG in a variety of clinical settings and run ambulatory monitor diagnostics.
• Run prolonged ECG monitoring (Alivecor and Diagnosticks), BP, spirometry, FeNO and sleep clinics.

30‑hour work pattern over 4 days.

We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
