Job summary

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Science Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with good communication skills to join our small, friendly Nuclear Medicine team. You must have a flexible approach to working and be able to work closely with a range of healthcare professionals.

The Nuclear Medicine Department at The Mount Vernon Cancer Centre provides a diagnostic and therapeutic clinical nuclear medicine service to patients using sources of radioactivity.

The Department also operates a radio pharmacy that manufactures radiopharmaceuticals for the Cancer Centre and other hospitals in North West London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

In addition, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,314 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Science Assistant in the Nuclear Medicine department you will be involved in supporting the delivery of radionuclide therapies for cancer patients.

The successful candidate assists with the day to day operation of a small two bedroom annex that is used for in-patient therapy and this will include laundering linen and some cleaning duties

You will be assisting our radiographers and technologists with diagnostic scans and tests as well as working in the radiopharmacy to provide support to the team that manufacture radiopharmaceuticals.

You will also be working in our reception, answering the telephone and directing enquiries to the appropriate person and assisting with tracking patient notes and filing

All working days will be varied and full training will be given.
