Job description
The Opportunity

Healthcare Regulatory Lawyer (London, Cardiff, Reading, or Southampton)

A Top 100 UK law firm is seeking a Healthcare Regulatory Lawyer to join its highly regarded Regulatory team. Recognised by both Chambers and Legal 500, this team is one of the largest in the country and is widely respected for its work advising professional regulators. Clients span a range of sectors, including health and social care, accountancy, and education.

This is an exciting time to join, with significant growth following major client wins and an increase in complex, high-profile work. The successful candidate will lead on regulatory casework while benefiting from the support of a large, collaborative team that includes solicitors, barristers, CILEX lawyers, paralegals, and trainees.

Flexible and hybrid working is encouraged, with team members typically attending the office two days per week.

The Role

You will advise and represent clients across the full range of healthcare regulatory matters. Work will include:

  • Assessing concerns and preparing case plans to guide investigations
  • Advising on risk, including whether interim orders should be sought to restrict or prohibit practice
  • Overseeing or conducting investigations, including interviewing witnesses and drafting statements
  • Preparing reports on evidence and recommendations, drafting allegations where appropriate
  • Keeping clients and individuals under investigation updated on case progress
  • Preparing cases for hearings before regulatory tribunals and working closely with advocates
  • Conducting regulatory litigation, including appeals and applications to the High Court
  • Advising on regulatory policy and helping to shape best practice across the sector

While prior experience in healthcare fitness-to-practise investigations is desirable, candidates with strong regulatory or litigation backgrounds from other areas will also be considered.

Full induction, training, and ongoing support will be provided.

About You

We are looking for a lawyer with:

  • Professional regulatory knowledge or experience (ideally within healthcare, but other sectors will be considered)
  • Proven case management experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A collegiate, team-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and client care skills
  • Confidence to take ownership of matters and deliver high-quality advice
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
What’s on Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • The chance to join a Top 100 law firm recognised nationally for its regulatory expertise
  • High-quality, meaningful work that helps protect the public and shape regulatory practice
  • Clear opportunities for progression and career development within a large, supportive team
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
