Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Healthcare Facilitator/Phlebotomist to join our Primary Health Care team at West London Forensic Services. The post holder will cover both community clinics and inpatient areas.

Due to service requirements, this is a part-time position, working 22 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 07:30 to 13:00.

The role involves performing venepuncture, ECGs, BP monitoring, and providing general assistance to the practice nursing team. It also includes monitoring patients’ mental and physical health, coordinating clozapine clinics, and working closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure patient wellbeing and monitor issues.

The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills, a caring attitude, and strong organizational skills. This is a highly responsible role working within a dedicated team of professionals. Previous experience is essential, and the post holder is expected to work independently but will receive full support.

The aims of this role are to enhance the care and monitoring of patients in West London Forensic Services prescribed Clozapine, Lithium, HDAT, and other medications. Responsibilities include taking venepuncture and ECGs, monitoring mental and physical health, coordinating clinics, and liaising with patients, carers, MDT, and others to promote understanding of medication and monitoring issues.

The post also involves providing a broad range of physical health monitoring and treatment services to inpatients, collaborating with the physical healthcare team to promote health initiatives, education, and support inpatient staff.

The post holder will contribute to healthcare delivery under supervision, adopting a recovery-focused approach to physical, psychological, social, recreational, and spiritual care for service users. Duties include reporting on patient conditions, maintaining ward hygiene and safety, and undertaking routine clerical tasks.
