Job summary

Circle Health Group operates Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow, seeking Healthcare Assistants to join their ward team on a bank basis. The role is “as and when required” to cover busy periods and staff absence.

You will assist with personal care, meals, observations and basic clinical tasks, in a compassionate, patient-centred environment. Prior health support experience and NVQ Level 2/3 desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in a care or health support role is preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills are expected.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, recording intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Carry out and record routine observations (blood pressure, pulse, RR, temp, SpO2, glucose) after training.
• Support basic clinical procedures (wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention).
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for patient use.
• Work with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe patient care.

Salary: Up to £12.79 per hour (depending on level of experience, training, and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff on the hospitals Wards.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
