Job summary

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting and mobility with dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Record routine observations (BP, pulse, resp rate, temp, O2, blood glucose) after training.
• Support basic clinical procedures (wound/ catheter care, pressure area prevention, mobility aids).
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, trolleys, beds and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to ensure safe care.

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This is a bank role working on an \"as and when required\" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence. Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care
  Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
