Job summary

The Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, part of Circle Health Group, seeks a Healthcare Assistant for Theatre on a bank, as-and-when-required basis. You will support the theatre team, assist with patient care and basic observations, and help maintain a safe, compassionate environment.

Qualified candidates will have care or health support experience, theatre experience, and NVQ 2/3 health and social care; role involves moving and handling, nutrition support, and teamwork with nurses and doctors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and upscale concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• Theatre experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care

We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in theTheatre department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:
