You will work as part of a multidisciplinary teamto deliver adult health services, focussing on inpatient and outpatient services to deliver the highest standard of hospital care, surpassing patient expectations

You will use your experience of Caredelivery to undertake delegated nursing tasks within agreed parameters, set byHeads of Departments.

Youwill work within clinical competencies pertinent to the area of speciality andin accordance within HMTs policies and procedures and values.

Main duties of the job

Weare looking for someone with experience of care delivery including basicnursing care, basic wound care, bladder/ bowel care, Moving and handling, skinand nutritional assessments, infection prevention control, and safeguardingawareness.

Youwill have the ability to organise and prioritise own work load undersupervision of a Registered Nurse with effective time management skills

Job responsibilities

To work independently and organise own workload as part of the multidisciplinary team, with delegated responsibility, undertaking duties in relation to patient care and departmental administration/organization with direction and supervision from a Registered Nurse (RN).

Demonstrate effective communication skills with patients, relatives and the multi-disciplinary team, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.

Adhere to HMTs financial controls and procedures.

Complete core competencies for your work area within the agreed set time frame.

Demonstrate IT skills, recording and reporting information onto patient administration systems in written and electronic format, maintaining and protecting confidential information relating to patients.

Be able to react appropriately to changing demands and situations, working as part of the team to be flexible and accommodating as appropriate.

Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and ensure follow HMTs Policy regarding Infection Control and Prevention.

Will participate in and meet the requirements of activities and training designed to meet the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework www.nhsemployers.org/sites/default/files/2021-07/The-NHS-Knowledge-and-Skills-Framework.pdf outlined for this post, and demonstrate a process of attaining continuous professional development, including undertaking all statutory and mandatory training relevant to role.

Contribute to the clinical governance agenda, including audit, the incident reporting policy, complaints management and attendance at meetings for learning and improvement.

Demonstrate own duties to new or less experienced employees, new starters, and temporary staff.

Act as a circulating member of the Theatre team for a variety of specialities and complexity of cases, including

Carry out safety checks of accountable items in conjunction with a qualified person and immediately acting on any discrepancies.

To undertake on call sessions as required.

Assisting with other members of the team in the preparation and cleaning of Theatres.

Assist in the safe handling, transfer and positioning of patients between all areas of the theatre department

Assisting with the labelling and dispatch of the theatre specimens.

Assisting in the compiling of the operations register. Maintain accurate patient documentation.

To use the correct procedure when handing a patient into the care of another healthcare professional, giving the correct information and instruction.

Participate in pre-op checklists, WHO safety checks, team briefs and debriefs

To ensure accurate and comprehensive nursing / theatre records, in all formats, are maintained using appropriate documentation.

Prepare equipment and consumables for operations highlighting any issues as they become apparent.

Responsible for the maintenance and control levels of the stock supplies.

Carry out some administrative duties as delegated.

Participate in Theatre equipment is checks to ensure it is suitable for use prior to each patients operation. Remove and report any faulty equipment.

Act in extended role (as deemed/evidenced as competent) as delegated and supervised by a qualified member of staff; such as scrubbed practitioner. (Level 4 qualified only)

Qualifications

  • -Trained in monitoring blood sugars, vital signs, fluid and food charts, ECG and basic life support (BLS)
  • -Basic IT skills, including WORD and Outlook, standard key board skills
