About Us

Our urgent care division delivers highly successful services within 111, Clinical Assessment Services, GP Out of Hours, and Urgent Treatment Centres nationally.

Totally was established to support the NHS and ensure that patients could quickly access the healthcare they need. We partner with healthcare commissioners across the UK & Ireland to deliver services that help them manage demand and reduce waiting lists, including the delivery of Urgent Treatment Centres and NHS 111.

About The Role

As a member of the Healthcare Team, you will be required to deliver caring and effective care respecting personal dignity and beliefs to all patients attending the UTC and work in line with the Totally Values.

You will assist with maintaining a safe care environment, including preparing and clearing rooms and equipment with reference to infection control and safe working practices for patients, visitors, and staff.

Under guidance from qualified staff, you will deliver patient clinical care, e.g., dressing of simple wounds, application of plaster of Paris, application of slings, dressing changes, etc.

Please note that this role involves daytime, evening, night, and weekend working on a rota basis supporting the UTC's 24/7 opening hours.

Your day-to-day responsibilities
Clinical
  • Performs ECG recordings
  • Performs urine dip and pregnancy tests
  • Supports ENP with treatment of minor injuries, such as simple wound closure, dressing, application of Plaster Of Paris, slings, and braces (walking boots, wrist splints, knee splints, etc.)
  • Records vital signs and reports abnormal findings or adverse signs to the responsible clinician
  • Demonstrates basic life support skills after training
  • Acts as a chaperone when necessary
  • Communicates effectively within the team and with patients, relatives, and visitors
  • Assists with all aspects of patient care following instructions and supervision from clinicians
  • Handles patients safely using appropriate techniques acquired from training
  • Assembles procedure trolleys as required
  • Oversees medical equipment, organizing replacements and calibration
Administrative
  • Supports admin staff in redirecting and booking patients via IT systems
  • Helps achieve local and national targets for the UTC
  • Manages stock and pharmacy orders for the UTC
  • Ensures adherence to Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Performs Fire Co-ordinator duties as per fire procedures
  • Keeps clinical rooms and waiting areas tidy, following infection control guidelines
  • Participates in training and development, utilizing resources effectively
  • Improves patient flow and satisfaction
  • Maintains high standards of patient care
Qualifications, Experience & Training
  • Previous experience in an Urgent Treatment Centre or hospital environment is essential
  • Educated to NVQ 2 level or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience of effective team working
  • Knowledge of healthcare computer systems such as Adastra
