Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a healthcare assistant to join the clinical team at Newport Health Centre, with responsibilities across health checks, ECG, phlebotomy, vaccine cold chain and stock management. The post supports GPs and nurses and requires the ability to travel between sites.

The role covers Monday to Friday 07:30–18:00, with occasional Saturdays and potential travel between Newport, Cowes and associated sites.

Qualifications

• Experience as a healthcare assistant, or in adult health and social care, learning support or public health, including unpaid work
• Health and safety awareness
• Basic first aid knowledge

Responsibilities

• New patient health checks
• ECG recording
• Phlebotomy
• Chaperoning
• Processing and managing lab samples requested by GPs and nurses
• Vaccine cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
• Restocking equipment, vaccines and consulting rooms, with stock rotation
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment around patient care, including assisting GPs in minor operations
• Assisting in assessing and monitoring patients' health and wellbeing
• Delegated clinical activities for named patients, taught individually
• Infection control, PPE, sharps, waste and decontamination across the practice
• Promoting health and wellbeing awareness and collecting data on needs
