Healthcare Assistant - Pre Admission (Bank)

Location: Albyn Hospital, Aberdeen

Shifts: Bank shifts, up to 5 days per week

Salary: Up to £12.53 per hour (depending on experience, training, and qualifications)

Albyn Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is a leading provider of independent healthcare in the UK, performing complex surgeries across a network of hospitals and clinics.

We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our Pre Admission department on a bank basis. This role involves working on an "as and when required" basis to support staffing during busy periods, annual leave, or staff absences.

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility, respecting their dignity and preferences.
  • Support patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional intake, documenting as necessary.
  • Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and their families, ensuring a caring environment.
  • Record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (training provided).
  • Support clinical procedures like wound care, catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical areas, equipment, and supplies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and administrative staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Physical ability to perform moving and handling duties.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
  • Experience or willingness to train in phlebotomy, ECGs, and vital sign recording.
