Part-Time Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist - 15 Hours Per Week

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our well-established and supportive nursing team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high skills in patient care, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. They should be hardworking, a good team player, able to work well under pressure, and capable of managing their own workload.

This role requires a confident attitude, experience, and IT skills, as the use of a computer to record clinical data is necessary. Knowledge of the Vision clinical system would be advantageous.

This is a part-time, permanent position working Wednesday to Friday. Flexibility may be required to cover holiday periods and additional hours.

About Us

We are a training practice with a friendly team comprising 10 GPs, 3 Nurses, 1 HCA, 1 ANP, Pharmacy Team, Physiotherapists, Community Mental Health Team, and 17 Admin Staff. Our practice list size is approximately 9,870 patients.

The Job

You will work with our clinical teams to deliver high-quality primary care services. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting new patient health checks and health screenings
  • Urinalysis and specimen preparation
  • Using blood monitoring equipment for instant INR results (training provided if needed)
  • Updating the computerized INR register (RAT) and reporting discrepancies
  • Performing ECGs
  • Measuring blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI
  • Following infection control standards
  • Ordering stock items via Pecos
  • Administering B12 injections under Patient Specific Directions (training provided if needed)
  • Referring to patient letters and blood test results via Docman
  • Reporting anomalies to senior clinical staff
  • Notifying the GP of significant patient issues
  • Accurately recording data in patient records
  • Acting as a chaperone
