Job summary

Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston, is hiring an experienced Health Care Assistant to support the nursing team and ensure high standards of care in outpatients and theatre. The role covers 37.5 hours across four days with travel to mobile sites around Preston, Lancashire, Manchester and Yorkshire.

You will welcome visitors, handle enquiries with confidentiality, perform routine clinical observations, assist with data entry and maintain stock and infection control.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and willingness to gain further clinical skills.
  • Experience or understanding of HCA duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to receive and communicate information accurately and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome visitors and notify appropriate staff of arrivals.
  • Handle enquiries courteously while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Record routine clinical observations accurately.
  • Assist clinical team with data entry and documentation.
  • Keep treatment rooms stocked, tidy and fit for purpose.

  • Work as a cohesive team and share knowledge.

If you are an experienced Healthcare Assistant with a passion for making the patient journey as comfortable as possible we have just the role for you.

Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston you’ll provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment. This will involve working with our Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatients and theatre.

Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

This role is for 37.5 hours per week across 4 days, travel to mobile sites across Preston, Lancashire, Manchester and Yorkshire as part of the contract.

What you’ll be doing
  • Welcoming visitors to the service in a pleasant efficient manner ensuring the appropriate person is notified of their arrival.
  • Dealing with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, being aware of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinical observations.
  • Carrying out clinical skills relevant to the unit.
  • Assisting the clinical team with data entry, filling and maintenance of accurate documentation of care.
  • Ensuring treatment rooms/ areas are adequately stocked, tidy and fit for purpose.
  • Adhering to appropriate infection control procedures.
  • Participating fully as a team member sharing knowledge and information and therefore promoting a cohesive team.
  • Accurately record up to date information on records ensuring that the department is promptly informed of any changes.
  • Participating in the stock control and ordering of consumables within the clinical areas.
What we’ll look for in you

We are looking for someone who is willing to work hard, learn and develop in the role, but most importantly someone who understands the value of team work and a good work ethic.

The ideal applicant will have

  • You will have an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and be willing to undertake training to gain further clinical skills.
  • Experience or a good understanding of a HCA duties and responsibilities
  • The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
  • The flexibility to fit into internal rotating shift pattern
  • Ophthalmology experience is a must
