Job summary

CHEC is seeking an Optical Assistant to join our team in Blackpool. You will work with the clinical team in day-to-day eye care, assisting in pre- and post-operative activities and ensuring high quality patient care.

This fixed term maternity cover role is 37.5 hours per week, offering the chance to develop within CHEC's supportive environment and contribute to our expanding UK clinics.

Qualifications

  • Experience in clinical settings or healthcare is advantageous.
  • Ability to work with clinical teams and theatre staff.
  • Excellent record keeping and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in running pre- and post-operative clinicals.
  • Act as theatre runner/escort ensuring patients receive high quality care and our theatre team are assisted during surgery.
  • Support patients throughout their CHEC journey and report concerns.
  • Ensure all equipment is checked and ready for use.
  • Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities.
  • Adhere to good record keeping and high standards of patient care.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Optical Assistant to join the team. As an Optical Assistant you will work alongside the clinical team in the day to day running of eye care clinics, carrying out diagnostic examinations whilst maintaining high quality care to all patients.

We are looking for someone who can:
  • Assist in the running of pre- and post-operative clinicals
  • Act as theatre runner/escort ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care, and our theatre team are assisted during surgery
  • Support patients throughout their journey with CHEC and report any concerns.
  • Ensure all equipment is checked and ready for use
  • Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities
  • Adhere to good record keeping and high standards of quality patient care

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Natural ability to empathise with patients and demonstrate a genuine care

  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills
