Overview

An opportunity has arisen for health care support worker to work in our busy Outpatient Department part time 21 hours per week in ENT outpatients. The ideal person will be an enthusiastic hard working person. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and a positive approach to patient centered care.

If you are new to care you must complete a care certificate when you commence employment with CDDFT and be paid band 2 until completion.

From April 9th 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have a minimum of two years of experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to consider sponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria and have a current visa expiring within 3 months).

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as part of the general outpatient team in the ENT outpatient department. To assist the qualified nursing staff, under their supervision, in providing a high quality, comprehensive and compassionate nursing service to all patients and users, ensuring a high standard of patient care is maintained in a clean and safe environment which promotes dignity, privacy and respect. Under appropriate supervision (direct or indirect), the post-holder will assist in the delivery of care planned and assessed by the Registered Nurse, including providing clinical care and performing a range of diagnostic tests and other extended skills.

Contributes to the ward / department by working under the supervision of the qualified nursing team in activities and tasks in providing high quality, compassionate care. To undertake delegated, repetitive, routine and familiar tasks. Plan and prioritise own delegated work tasks and activities. Have an awareness of normal parameters concerning patient wellbeing and report that which is out of normal parameters to the registered professional. To assist in the delivery of core programs of clinical care and participate in service improvement and development initiatives. To participate in service improvement and development initiatives. To work within a multi- disciplinary framework of nursing, which may include multi-agency, social work, therapy, residential, administrative and support staff.
