NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare
Job description

We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant with a passion and commitment to the care they deliver, who holds the patient experience and care at the heart of their practice. You will need to be pro-active and enthusiastic in your role, share our organisational values, and be looking for an opportunity to join our highly skilled team of Emergency Practitioners and qualified staff in our Practitioner Led Unit.

We are therefore looking for a Healthcare Assistant with experience of working in an Acute health care setting and with a NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare. Applications from experienced HCAs with extended skills such as venepuncture and ECGs would be welcome.

The North Cotswold Hospital has a dedicated minor injury & illness unit (MIiU) open 7 days a week, and the post holder will be required to work a full range of shifts. Our hours of service are 0800-2000hrs.

Based in the MIiU, you will be required to provide a high standard of care to Adult & Paediatric patients and contribute to housekeeping and other department duties, including some administration and Reception duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the delivery of high quality patient care, promoting rehabilitation and independence for those patients attending the MIiU under the supervision of the qualified unscheduled care practitioner (ENP/EP) and Band 5 Staff.
  • Maintain stock levels and ensure timely ordering of consumables and assist in keeping the clinical environment clean and tidy on a daily basis.
  • Support patients from the point of registration through to treatment and discharge.
  • Work alongside a clinician to facilitate planned returns dressings.

We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within peoples homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.

About Us:

Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys, and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views, with 72% of colleagues recommending the Trust as a place to work, and 76% recommending the standard of care provided in our services.

The North Cotswold Hospital Minor Injury and Illness Unit (MIiU) is one of 6 units within GHC, seeing on average 25 - 40 patients per day from all age groups with a variety of presentations. We work as a cohesive team with everyone's role holding equal value, and there are training and development opportunities both inhouse and externally for all staff.

Health Care Assistant, Social Care Workers, and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard, and to challenge others who are not.
