Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking an experienced Healthcare Assistant for flexible treatment room sessions across primary care services in Barnard Castle. You will provide hands-on clinical support to nursing and clinical teams, carry out routine duties and help manage patient flow in GP clinic environments.

The role is fully flexible with weekday, evening or weekend availability and ad-hoc or regular booking options.

Qualifications

• Previous HCA experience in primary care or NHS settings.
• Confident performing routine clinical observations.
• Enhanced DBS (mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine clinical observations including BP, pulse and temperature.
• Support treatment room procedures such as wound care and dressings.
• Perform ECGs and basic health checks.
• Update digital patient records and support clinicians.

This role is ideal for HCAs confident in performing routine clinical tasks within structured GP clinic environments, providing hands-on support to nursing and clinical teams.

You will assist with day-to-day treatment room duties, essential observations and routine procedures, ensuring smooth patient flow and consistent clinical support across the service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine clinical observations including BP, pulse and temperature
• Supporting treatment room procedures such as wound care and dressings
• Performing ECGs and basic health checks
• Assisting with phlebotomy if trained
• Updating digital patient records in line with service protocols
• Supporting clinicians with general duties where needed
• Maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment

Requirements

• Previous HCA experience in primary care or NHS clinical settings
• Confident performing routine clinical observations
• Phlebotomy experience desirable
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to different clinic environments
• Enhanced DBS
