Job overview

HUC provides the NHS111 and Out of Hours GP service to over 4.5 million patients across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, West Essex, and the South West of England. HUC is an exciting and supportive place to work.

This role involves assisting with the delivery of patient care, including ECG recording, and providing support to healthcare professionals within a multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of a clinician and within the practice group parameters.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their skills in the main duties of the job through certificates.

Main duties of the job

The role includes responsibilities such as ECG recording, chaperoning, managing vaccine storage and monitoring, re-stocking medical equipment, maintaining consulting rooms, and preparing environments and equipment for patient care. It supports health and wellbeing initiatives by raising awareness and collecting relevant data, maintaining stock, and regularly checking patient observations in the Urgent Treatment Centre. Ensuring life-saving equipment is stocked is also essential.

You will welcome and direct visitors, support clinical staff with tasks like taking vital signs and tests, oversee medical equipment checks and maintenance, and assist in meeting local and national targets, including reducing emergency department visits and maintaining infection control standards. Ensuring Health & Safety compliance, serving as Fire Co-Ordinator, and keeping the department organized are also key parts of the role. You will collaborate with the administrative team to support smooth service delivery and implement new systems.
