Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Healthcare Assistant to support a GP practice in Peterlee. The role involves helping with routine procedures, patient assessments and day-to-day treatment room activity, and is suited to a proactive candidate.

You will be part of an organised primary care team, helping with patient flow, clinical duties, and delivering high-quality care. Sessions are ad-hoc or regular weekly, with morning and afternoon slots, and long-term block bookings are welcome.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required.
