Job summary

We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to support the outpatient team in delivering person-centered high-quality care, ensuring patient safety and experience remain paramount. The role requires a pro-active, forward-thinking attitude, flexibility to meet clinic needs, and commitment to professional development.

A variety of short courses and literacy/numeracy basics are expected, with full support for career progression.

Qualifications

• Completion of short courses to undertake patient and clinical care duties, completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3
• Maths and English skills equivalent to Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy
• Completion of Care Certificate or equivalent experience
• For Band 3 appointments: NVQ / QCF Level 3 in a health-related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by completion of a competency-based clinical skills framework
• Committed to providing high quality patient care
• Understands the needs of patients in an acute setting
• Experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant
• Experience of caring for patients in an acute setting
• Ability and willingness to undertake delegated clinical duties
• Ability to act as an advocate for patients
• Understands the importance of professional behaviour at all times
• Understands own role in delivery of care to meet patient's needs, including personal accountability and role boundaries
• Understands the importance of following instructions and written procedures
• Experience of working within a team
• Ability to communicate clearly in English in writing, via IT, verbally and using the telephone
• Ability to pass on information or results accurately
• Ability to demonstrate kindness, compassion and empathy to others
• Ability to provide patients with an environment that supports privacy and dignity
