Job summary

Optimum Care Group seeks a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join Burleigh Hill House in Carrickfergus on temporary maternity-cover terms.

The role is 36 hours per week across three 12-hour day shifts between 8am and 8pm (Mon–Sun), with a 10-month contract from 1/11/2026 to 5/9/2027. Annual leave is 5.6 weeks pro rata, with on-site parking and supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• NISCC registration is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities including washing, dressing, toileting/incontinence and aiding with meals.
• Kitchen duties including basic meal preparation.
• Laundry duties: washing, drying and ironing.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and communicate with the line manager.
• Adhere to company policies and health and safety guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality of residents and colleagues.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Full Time Healthcare Assistant to join our Burleigh Hill Team on a temporary contract covering maternity leave. The contract is for 3 days per week, 3 x 12 hour day shifts per week (working between the hours of 8am and 8pm) allocated between Monday to Sunday. This temporary contract will run for 10 months from 1/11/2026 to 5/9/2027.

Duties

• Personal Care Assist with all daily living activities, for example, washing, dressing, toileting/incontinence and assisting with mealtimes.
• Kitchen All relevant kitchen related duties including basis meal preparation.
• Laundry Washing, drying and ironing duties
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Complete all paperwork accurately.
• Communicate regularly with the line manager.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as laid down by the company.
• Obtain NISCC registration before employment and maintain during employment
• Adhere to the NISCC Codes of Practice
• Adhere to all Health and Safety guidelines.
• Ensure the confidentiality of residents, colleagues and the company at all times.
• Work as part of a team.
• Provide a quality service at all times.

Whilst the above is an outline of the duties you will be required to carry out any other duties as may be reasonably required.

Essential Criteria

• No experience necessary

Desirable Criteria

• Be registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)
• Experience within a paid Nursing Home or similar environment to include personal care experience
