Job summary

Cornerstone Healthcare Group is seeking an experienced healthcare assistant to support residents at South Africa Lodge. You will provide compassionate daily care, assist with meals and activities, and work with a dedicated team to uphold dignity and independence for residents with complex needs.

The role requires at least 1 year in UK care settings, a caring, patient approach, strong communication, and a willingness to train and develop.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year’s experience working in a UK care home with dementia, mental health, elderly or complex needs.
• Genuine passion for helping others and promoting dignity and independence.
• Emotional resilience and a steady head in challenging situations.
• Good communication skills (written & verbal).
• Willingness to undertake training and continuous professional development.
• NVQ Level 2 or working towards it (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Support daily living including personal care, meals, and social activities.
• Promote independence and dignity in every interaction.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ health and well-being.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure person-centred care.

South Africa Lodge is a 99-bed home providing exceptional care across six specialised units. We support residents living with complex needs, including neuro-degenerative conditions, dementia, and mental health challenges. • At least 1 year’s experience working in a care home supporting residents with dementia, mental health, elderly or complex care needs in the UK (essential)

• A positive team-focused attitude
• A caring, reliable, and positive attitude

Your Working Pattern

• Day shift: 07:45 – 19:45
• Average: 38.5 hours per week
• Alternate weekends

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are quite the same as a Healthcare Assistant, but your main responsibilities will include:

• Support all aspects of daily living including personal care, mealtimes, and social activities
• Promote independence, choice, and dignity in every interaction
• Observe and report on changes in residents’ health and well-being
• Collaborate with your team to ensure exceptional, person-centred care
• Communicate openly and respectfully with colleagues, residents, and their loved ones
