A leading palliative care organization in Catterick is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to support patients at home. The role requires assistance with hygiene, monitoring symptoms, and providing emotional support. Candidates should have relevant qualifications, experience in end-of-life care, and must be drivers with a vehicle. The position offers part-time hours with additional benefits including training programs and fair leave policies.
As a Healthcare Assistant with the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Catterick, Northallerton, Leyburn, and the surrounding areas, you will provide essential support to patients and their families during their most critical moments.
With your experience in End of Life care, you are well-prepared to make a significant impact. Our one-to-one approach ensures that you will have ample meaningful interactions with patients and their families, typically within their own homes. Working independently, you will have the chance to use your initiative in accordance with the patient's established care plan. Your responsibilities will include assisting patients with their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications, maintaining detailed records, and providing emotional support to both patients and their families.
Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they're likely to die from.
The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.
We are currently recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join our Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service in Catterick, Northallerton, Leyburn and surrounding areas.
Hours: Part Time - 27 hours per week (3 night shifts) or 18 hours per week (2 night shifts)
Advert closes: 6th October 2025
