Healthcare Assistant - Band 3 Ward 8D Infectious Diseases

Join us for the Healthcare Assistant - Band 3 Ward 8D Infectious Diseases role at River Alliance of Wisconsin.

Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and experienced healthcare assistant on Ward 8D Infectious Diseases. The role involves caring for complex patients with diverse needs, including acute and chronic illnesses such as HIV, Encephalitis, Cellulitis, Urinary and Respiratory Infectious diseases, and C-Difficile.

Responsibilities
  • Participate fully in delivering planned nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Assess healthcare needs using appropriate tools and documentation.
  • Assist in evaluating care and completing patient records.
  • Involve patients and their families in care delivery, providing reassurance and support.
  • Work collaboratively with the ward team to meet patient needs.
  • Recognize and respond to urgent and emergency situations appropriately.
  • Undertake patient transfers and escorts with moderate dependency, as directed.
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum two years' experience as a Healthcare Assistant in an acute NHS hospital setting.
  • Ability to record observations, escalate abnormal parameters, perform blood glucose monitoring, venipuncture, cannulation, and simple wound dressings.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to relate to patients of varying understanding levels.
  • Leadership qualities to support junior colleagues and work as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills, including email and NHS-related systems.
  • Understanding of NHS issues and quality improvement in clinical settings.
  • Good attendance record and physical capability to perform a wide range of duties.
