Job description

Ward 10 - Healthcare Assistant (Band 3)

Ward 10, an acute gastroenterology ward with 26 beds at Aintree University Hospital, is seeking experienced Band 3 Healthcare Assistants to join our team.

The successful candidates should be highly motivated, possess good interpersonal skills, and be able to work under pressure within a team. A strong desire to maintain high standards of care is essential.

The role involves undertaking tasks delegated by a registered nurse and assisting with clinical duties. Training will be provided to develop necessary skills.

This position requires participation in a flexible rota to provide 24-hour care, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform as a Co-Worker under supervision of qualified staff.
  2. Deliver planned care to service users as identified by the professional in charge.
  3. Assist in monitoring patients' health (training provided), including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, weight, and drug/alcohol screening.
  4. Support senior staff in planning and delivering therapeutic and social activities.
  5. Participate in initial assessments and planning of interventions, considering patients' physical, psychological, and social needs.
  6. Provide individualized care under supervision, supporting patients' physical, psychological, and social well-being.
  7. Document care accurately and ensure records are stored per policy.
  8. Observe and report any changes in patients' physical or mental health.
  9. Support management of patients exhibiting challenging behaviour.
