Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Chorley is seeking a healthcare assistant to deliver high quality personalised care in line with local and national standards.

Under supervision you will assist with taking samples for testing, support patients' nutritional needs, and undertake clinical duties as competencies are met, while maintaining safety, confidentiality and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a health care setting.
• Understanding of confidentiality and data handling in the health sector.
• Numeracy and literacy at Level 1 or equivalent; willingness to attain Level 2.
• Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with standards.
• Under supervision take samples from patients for testing or dispatching (urine, sputum, faeces, MRSA swabs, blood sugars).
• Assist patients to meet nutritional needs in line with their care plan.
• Undertake clinical duties relevant to the area following competencies.
• Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security policies.
• Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve patient experience and outcomes.
• Promote equality in care and practice by recognising and meeting individuals' needs.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive care environment.
• Assist with resolving issues and complaints at local level and report outcomes to line manager.
• Maintain and develop own competence.
