Band 2s will not be eligible for sponsorship as these roles will not meet the required skill level (RQF 3 or A level and above), despite having their salary increased.

1A Frailty is a 12-bedded Frailty unit providing excellent care to our elderly patients. This is a fantastic opportunity for a band 2 health care assistant to join the team on Ward AIFU on the Royal site. This is a full-time post with rotational days and nights; previous experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients in meeting their hygiene needs and carry out all aspects of personal care and grooming (including emptying catheter bags).
  • Provision of patients’ toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained.
  • Support of patients in managing incontinence.
  • Measure patients' fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts and report information to Registered Nurse.
  • Preparation and serving of patients’ meals, drinks, and snacks. Assist with feeding patients as necessary.
  • Assist patients in completing menu forms and liaise with the Catering Department regarding the number of meals needed.
  • Report patients’ dietary intake as indicated in the patients’ plan of care.
  • Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from mandatory training and in relation to the patients’ manual handling plan.
  • Enable patients to maintain or improve their mobility by use of exercise and mobility appliances as directed by individual care plans.
  • Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered Nurse in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care.
  • Obtain specimens from patients for ward or laboratory testing.
  • Escort patients to clinical departments within the hospital.
  • Assist Registered Nurse in performing last offices.
  • Conduct general observations of patients, reporting anything untoward to Registered Staff.
