Job summary

Are you a naturally caring Healthcare Assistant? Asher House in Essex within the Elysium Healthcare group seeks empathetic team players to support men with learning disabilities, autism and sensory impairments.

You’ll join a supportive team, document care, and assist with daily living in a challenging but rewarding environment. Shifts are 12.5 hours, 3-4 days per week including nights and weekends, with comprehensive training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similar role.
• Ability to work with adults with learning disabilities and autism.
• DBS disclosure required and commitment to safe recruitment.

Responsibilities

• Care for men with learning disabilities, autism, and sensory impairments.
• Update patient records and assist with personal hygiene.
• Participate in ward rounds and adapt care with the team.

What you will be doing

You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to men with learning disabilities, autism and sensory and communication impairments , using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recover pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.

Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.

The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends.

Asher House is part of our Learning Disability and Autism division and is a registered care service with nursing which embraces and balances the management of risk with comfort, homeliness, dignity, respect and choice. The service is for men with learning disabilities, autism and sensory and communication impairments. We are specialists in working with complex needs and behaviours which challenge services.
