Job summary

A healthcare organization is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join its Adult Eating Disorders intensive day service. The role involves delivering patient-centred care, supporting individuals with Anorexia Nervosa, and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ideal candidates will have a Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2, with an emphasis on patient advocacy and cultural sensitivity. This position does not offer sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa.

Qualifications

  • Experience in eating disorders is desirable.
  • Ability to complete patient assessment tools accurately.
  • Must complete Healthcare Assistant competencies within probation.

Job description
Overview

An exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join the Adult Eating Disorders intensive day service. The service is based at Imperial Avenue in Norton and is open 08:00 – 18:00, Monday – Friday (currently under review). Some Eating Disorder experience is desirable.

The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality patient‑centred care in a community setting. The role involves improving the lives of people with Anorexia Nervosa and the impact of their condition through the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain safety, privacy and dignity of all patients in the delivery of patient‑centred care, recognising and respecting differences including spiritual and cultural beliefs.
  • Undertakes delegated activities within level of own competency, with due regard to risk assessment, to assist with the implementation of intervention plans as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Complete patient assessment tools and accurately summarise within patient care records.
  • Identify changes in patients' presentation and act, report and record appropriately.
  • Accompany and provide support to patients in a variety of community settings, as delegated and dependent on current risk assessment.
  • Assist in the provision of health education and advice on health promotion to patients and their carers.
  • Demonstrate safe breakaway techniques in the management of violence and aggression as required.
  • Demonstrate safe moving and handling of patients using equipment as required.
  • Act as an advocate for patients/carers where appropriate and with authorisation.
  • Promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent (completed).
  • Evidence of Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent.
  • Must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within probation (first 6 months in role).
  • Right to Work in the UK is required to be appointed.
  • This role does not meet eligibility for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa; the Trust cannot offer sponsorship for this position.
