Job summary

Skycare is seeking enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to help residents live fulfilled lives in home care, private sector and supported living settings. You’ll work under the Registered Manager, delivering high-quality, person-centered care with dignity and independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents in home care, private sector and supported living settings.
• Care for people including washing, toileting, dressing and daily living activities while maintaining dignity.
• Assist with mobility, continence, meals and patient comfort; observe and record care needs.
• Respond to Nursecall, manage calls and messages promptly; greet visitors and offer refreshments.
• Support with room changes, cleaning, waste management and safe moving and handling.
• Attend meetings, mandatory training and maintain professional knowledge and competence.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Assist in planning and delivering care that respects residents’ independence and preferences.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and fun HEALTHCARE ASSISTANTS to join our team supporting people to have a fulfilled and active life. 3-4 shifts per week alternate include weekends.

The people we support have differing needs and wishes we are looking for people who are dedicated to making our residents lives happy and fulfilled.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll play a key role in providing high-quality, person-centred care to our clients in home care, private sector, and supported living settings. Working under the guidance of our Registered Manager, you will ensure clients receive the best possible care while maintaining their dignity and independence

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

About You

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is preferred not mandatory
• Experience: Ideally, you have at least 6 months of experience as a Care Assistant, but we welcome those with a passion for care and transferable skills.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Care:

• Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting People in our Care, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
• Assist People in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring People retain their comfort and dignity.
• Pay particular attention to assisting People who have limited mobility, or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.
• Closely monitor People who may be confused and / or who have behavioural problems.
• Assist in the promotion of continence.
• Assist in the delivery of care for People who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Assist with last offices.
• Observe care planning needs for People and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company's policies and procedures.
• Answer Nursecall system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.
• Make Visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.
• Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty, in line with the Care Home's disposal of waste policy.
• Assist People who need help during meal times (be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements etc). Assist with serving of food / drinks as requested / required. Set and clear tables and trays. Wash up as requested / required.

People.

• Assist where needed in the rearrangement of people's bedrooms moving furniture, beds etc having due regard for safe moving and handling techniques at all times.

Communication:

• Participate in Staff and Client meetings as and when required.
• Training and Development:
• Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
• 
  Health and Safety:
• Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Person in our Care, colleague, self or another.
• Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
• Promote safe working practice within the Care Home. General:
• Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
