Job summary

Skycare is recruiting enthusiastic healthcare assistants to support people to have fulfilled and active lives. The role spans home care, private sector and supported living, with 3-4 shifts per week including weekends, under the guidance of the Registered Manager.

Based in Bourne (PE10), the role pays £12.81 per hour on a permanent, full-time contract. You must be 18+, have the right to work in the UK, and be willing to work without sponsorship; a DBS check and references are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is preferred but not mandatory
• At least 6 months of care experience is preferred
• Passion for caring for the elderly and delivering excellent service
• Values integrity, respect and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks including washing, toileting, dressing and feeding.
• Support clients to maintain dignity, comfort and independence.
• Monitor residents, especially those with limited mobility or behavioural needs.
• Record daily notes and follow care plans as instructed.
• Respond to Nursecall and manage requests promptly.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and fun HEALTHCARE ASSISTANTS to join our team supporting people to have a fulfilled and active life. 3-4 shifts per week alternate include weekends.

The people we support have differing needs and wishes we are looking for people who are dedicated to making our residents lives happy and fulfilled.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll play a key role in providing high-quality, person-centred care to our clients in home care, private sector, and supported living settings. Working under the guidance of our Registered Manager, you will ensure clients receive the best possible care while maintaining their dignity and independence

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Genuine interest in working within a caring environment

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Care:

• Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting People in our Care, when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, and all other aspects of daily living.
• Assist People in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring People retain their comfort and dignity.
• Pay particular attention to assisting People who have limited mobility, or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided.
• Closely monitor People who may be confused and / or who have behavioural problems.
• Assist in the promotion of continence.
• Assist in the delivery of care for People who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Assist with last offices.
• Observe care planning needs for People and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
• Answer Nursecall system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.
• Make Visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.
• Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty, in line with the Care Home’s disposal of waste policy.
• Assist People who need help during meal times (be aware of swallowing difficulties, dietary requirements etc). Assist with serving of food / drinks as requested / required. Set and clear tables and trays. Wash up as requested / required.

People.

• Assist where needed in the rearrangement of people’s bedrooms moving furniture, beds etc having due regard for safe moving and handling techniques at all times.

Communication:

• Participate in Staff and Client meetings as and when required.
• Training and Development:
• Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
• 
  Health and Safety:
• Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Person in our Care, colleague, self or another.
• Report to the Home Manager, or the Handyperson, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
• Promote safe working practice within the Care Home. General:
• Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.
• Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you
