Job summary

Frances Bolitho Care Home in Penzance is seeking Healthcare Assistants to join our night team, delivering compassionate, person-centred care to residents. You’ll support with daily living tasks, build relationships, and work with Team Leads on training and progression toward Enhanced Healthcare Assistant roles.

We offer flexible hours (part-time and full-time), strong team support, and opportunities to advance while providing a safe, respectful environment for residents.

You'll provide person-centred care, build meaningful relationships and work as part of a close-knit team committed to delivering the highest standards of care.

For those with previous care experience who are ready for greater responsibility, we'll support you to develop into an Enhanced Healthcare Assistant, you will have support from your Team Leads, and Care Coordinators to complete safe administration of medication training and basic clinical observations skills, following full training and competencies sign off, you can develop into an enhanced career and help mentor and guide new colleagues as they begin their own careers in care.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support residents with personal care, maintaining their privacy, dignity, and respect at all times.
  • Engage residents in meaningful conversations and activities that enhance their quality of life.
  • Deliver care in a person-centred manner, tailored to individual needs and preferences.
  • Conduct regular wellbeing and health checks in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and external healthcare professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
  • Accurately record and maintain resident information using digital documentation systems.
  • Promptly report any incidents, changes, or concerns to senior team members.
  • A caring and empathetic nature with a genuine passion for helping others.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents and colleagues.
  • Good written English for accurate documentation of daily care and interactions.
  • Basic computer/IT skill for navigating digital documentation systems.

Development Pathways

As a Healthcare Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to progress to an Enhanced Healthcare Assistant role through our comprehensive training and competency programme.

This development pathway will enable you to:

  • Safely administer medication following competency assessments.
  • Carry out basic clinical observations and report concerns appropriately.
  • Lead by example, promoting high standards of person-centred care.
  • Support and mentor new colleagues during their induction and development.
  • Work alongside Team Leads to support the smooth running of each shift.
  • Build the knowledge and confidence needed to progress into senior care roles in the future.
  • £13:00 per hour
  • £26.00 per hour (Bank Holidays)
  • £13.50 per hour
  • £27.00 per hour (bank holidays)
Pay Scale - Enhanced HCA
  • £13.90 per hour
  • £27.80 per hour (bank holidays)
