Job description

The Lakes Medical Practice, Penrith, is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their team.

This role is being readvertised due to unforeseen circumstances. Previous applicants are welcome to reapply.

**Consideration will be given to those seeking a HCA training role, for the right applicant with relevant experience.**

This is a full-time role. Days of work are usually Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays.

You will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice's clinical team in providing and delivering prescribed patient care programs.

Main duties of the job
  • Record and follow guidelines for tasks for which you have received appropriate training.
  • Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.
  • Measuring and recording physiological measurements in routine presentations, including blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height, weight, and body mass index.
  • Venepuncture
  • ECG

Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.

Support and monitor patients during nebulisation therapy.

Conduct Long-Term Condition Reviews and Foot Checks.

Administer B12, Flu, and Pneumococcal Vaccinations.

Contact patients on behalf of and as advised by the GP/Clinical team, to advise on test results and recall plans following consultations or test results.

Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, and how it can be promoted.

Provide accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within your competence.
