Job description

The Lakes Medical Practice, Penrith is looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their team.

Consideration will be given to those seeking a HCA training role, for the right applicant with relevant experience.

This is a full-time role. Days of work are usually Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays.

You will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly follow specific practice guidelines and protocols. The Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Main duties of the job

• Record and follow guidelines for tasks for which you have received appropriate training, including:

• Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory.
• Measuring and recording physiological parameters such as blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height, weight, and body mass index.

• Perform venepuncture and ECGs.
• Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.
• Support and monitor patients during nebulisation therapy.
• Conduct Long-Term Condition Reviews and Foot Checks.
• Administer B12, Flu, and Pneumococcal Vaccinations.
• Contact patients on behalf of and as advised by the GP/Clinical team to discuss test results or recall plans following consultation or test results.
• Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being and promote it.
• Provide accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within your competence.

Experience

• Experience working within a healthcare setting.
• Experience in a GP practice or primary care.

Qualifications

• Computer literate with knowledge of Windows.
• Willingness to undertake/Care Certificate NVQ or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified in Phlebotomy.
• Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject.

Salary: £23,536.50 to £27,300 per year, depending on experience.
