WELLINGTONROAD SURGERY is a friendly, busy GP practice committed to providinghigh-quality, patient-centred care to our community. We are looking for anenthusiastic and reliable Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our supportiveclinical team.

Asa vital member of our practice, you will work under the supervision of ourPractice Nurses and GPs, assisting in the delivery of essential healthcareservices and ensuring our patients receive the best possible experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Conducting observations, monitoring, and accurately recording patients' conditions, including vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, blood glucose, weight).
  • Performing phlebotomy (blood taking) for diagnostic purposes.
  • Conducting new patient health checks and NHS Health Checks.
  • Administering routine injections, such as B12, flu, and pneumonia, following appropriate training and within scope of practice.
  • Providing basic wound care and assisting with suture/clip removal.
  • Preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment, ensuring high standards of hygiene and infection control.
  • Processing and preparing laboratory samples for collection.
  • Maintaining patient health records and updating information as required.
  • Providing health promotion advice and emotional support to patients and their families, ensuring effective communication.

About us

We are a supportive, forward thinking medical practice based in Newport, Shropshire.

We have a team of 12 GP's, 4 practice nurses, 1 HCA and 2 phlebotomists who are supported by a large admin team and a practice & deputy manager.

Job responsibilities

Experience

  • Desirable (but not essential, as training can be provided):
  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant, particularly within a primary care or GP surgery setting.
  • Hold a Care Certificate or equivalent healthcare qualification.
